Hello. I am so excited to be finally bringing this podcast to the world.

What follows here in this short episode is an outline of what you can expect from the podcast going forward.

As I say in the intro to each episode, the show is “a curation of interesting metaphors, models and images discovered or manifested in my work as a psychotherapist”.  So if I’ve read or heard a funky idea, I’ll lift it from the book or the talk or the session, and offer it to you. It’s like I’ve run a highlighter through my training and knowledge so you can be presented with a summary of my brain!!

The thing is, being a psychotherapist means you encounter loads of really interesting ways of looking at life. Granted, it’s often ways of looking at life’s struggles… but anyway, it occurred to me one day that if I could find a way to share some of them it might be interesting for other people. It may even be helpful. (Side note: although may be helpful, it is not intended to be a substitute for therapy. There is no shortcut to the valuable work that goes on in the consulting room.)

And that’s the important thing. This podcast might make you marvel at how clever and creative some people are in how they manage to explain in words some really complex stuff, or it might make you see some popular media and well-known stories through a different lens… But it is unlikely to fix you!

Rest assured, if the idea comes from someone else I will always credit that person, and there is definitely water-tight confidentiality for my clients.

Have you ever wanted to go beyond the therapist’s waiting room to find out what happens in counselling sessions? Join me on This Won’t Fix You, where I take you into a library of interesting therapy-inspired ways to help you understand - and maybe even marvel at – what it is to be human: from our yearnings and motivations through to our frustrations and the patterns that block us as we muddle through life.

I am your host, Nadine Pittam, and on this show, we talk about metaphors, models and images discovered or manifested through my work as an accredited psychotherapist.

Each episode of This Won’t Fix You has two branches: first, a 30 to 40 minute conversation between me and another qualified professional which introduces and discusses the theory or idea in the spotlight (we call this the A side). And then the B side, where it’s just you and me, and we go on a deeper exploration of that theory or idea from a more intimate, more therapeutic standpoint.

While the show won’t fix your problems, it will give you a better insight into how we live, think and feel.

So maybe you wanna hear about how kids films like Frozen are essentially metaphors rooted in counselling theory, or perhaps you want to make your sex life better by imagining your genitals and your brain going out to dinner together? Or maybe you just love chatting about stuff like shame or death… If that sounds like you, then go into the podcast app of your choice and subscribe to or follow the show.
